What Is Needed to Maintain GFP Full Member Status?

Global Financial Planning Institute Full Members must renew their membership yearly to maintain GFP (USA) certification. The GFP Institute requires that each Full Member completes 6 hours of continuing education, including at least four hours of technical content each year.

Minimum Continuing Education Requirements

  • GFP members must complete a minimum of 6 hours of continuing education (CE) credits within each membership renewal period.
  • Continuing education activities must be relevant to the member's particular country or countries of expertise and contribute to their professional development.
  • Acceptable continuing education activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Attending conferences, seminars, workshops, or webinars related to the member's field.
  • Participating in online courses or training programs.
  • Presenting or speaking at professional events.
  • Publishing articles or papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Documentation and Verification

  • GFP members are responsible for maintaining records of their continuing education activities, including certificates of completion, attendance records, or any other relevant documentation.
  • GFP may randomly select members for audit to verify their compliance with the continuing education requirements. Selected members will be required to provide supporting documentation for their completed activities.

Non-Compliance and Consequences

  • Failure to meet the minimum continuing education requirements may result in the suspension or revocation of GFP member status, and removal of one’s profile from the Find an Advisor website.
  • Members who fail to comply with the policy will be notified in writing and given an opportunity to rectify the situation within a specified timeframe.

Policy Review

This policy on continuing education requirements for GFP member renewals will be reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness and relevance.
